Altinkum means "golden sand" and the name originates from the three beautiful sandy beaches here, which have all been awarded the Blue Flag. It is a relatively new resort, and is not actually a town itself but is the beach and resort area of the town of Didim on the Aegean coast of south west Turkey.
Altinkum is already very popular with holiday makers and home owners from the UK and the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden etc) in particular as well as with Turkish people from the big cities like Ankara and Istanbul.
Because it is relatively new the property prices in Altinkum are lower than in the already established resorts, and a home in the sun here is more affordable than you may think. But price is not the only reason so many choose Altinkum Didim for their holiday or retirement home.
